Depending on the Client’s overall plan and qualifications, we have access to a wide range of alternative investments, including private equity, hedge funds, real estate, and more.  These options provide additional diversification and potentially enhance returns.

Jason Alderson, CFP®, CDFA®

Senior Wealth Advisor

Jason serves as a Senior Wealth Advisor for Crusonia Wealth.  He brings a deep passion for financial planning and investment management, leveraging his diverse industry experience to deliver tailored solutions for his clients’ unique financial goals.

Jason earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance with a minor in Accounting from the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver. He began his career in the investment management group of a private bank and trust company, where he gained expertise across operations, analytics, portfolio management, and financial planning. Prior to joining Crusonia Wealth Advisors, Jason was a Financial Advisor with Private Capital Management. As a Certified Financial Planner™ Professional and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst™ Practitioner, Jason is committed to advancing the financial planning profession. He served as President (2021) and Chair (2022) of the Financial Planning Association of Colorado, establishing himself as a leader in the field.

Beyond his professional work, Jason is deeply involved in giving back to his community. He serves as Treasurer on the Board of Trustees for Shalom Park, a nonprofit nursing home and senior living community dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care for older adults. Shalom Park holds a special place in Jason’s heart, as it was home to his father for nearly seven years. Additionally, Jason serves on the Board of Directors of the Lowry Foundation, an organization committed to preserving the history and enhancing the community of Denver’s Lowry neighborhood.

Jason’s interests include playing golf on Colorado’s scenic courses, traveling, and spending time with his husband and their three retrievers.

Erin Bawa, Ph.D. CFA

Chief Investment Officer

Erin is a Director and Crusonia Wealth’s Chief Investment Officer. She manages the research team and directs the Investment Committee. In addition, Erin supports the advisor teams in serving their clients.

Erin also leads Michaud Capital Management LLC’s (“MCM”) investment research efforts, which include asset allocation, portfolio construction, manager due diligence, and evaluation of traditional and non-traditional investment managers and direct investment opportunities. 

Prior to joining Crusonia and MCM, Erin was a Vice President at Monticello Associates, LLC. Erin led the firm’s hedged equity research, and her primary responsibilities included performing investment manager due diligence, manager selection, and data analysis.

Erin started her career at Investure, LLC in Charlottesville, Virginia, where she worked for two years as an Investment Analyst, where she was responsible for covering a broad range of asset classes and investment managers.

Erin completed a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Virginia. She graduated summa cum laude from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Arts in Physics. She is a CFA charterholder

David Baysinger, CFP©, CPA

Senior Wealth Advisor

David serves as a Senior Wealth Advisor for Crusonia Wealth. David started his financial services career with Deloitte in 1994 and focuses his practice on providing comprehensive financial planning and investment consulting to high-net-worth individuals, including CEOs, CFOs, and other senior executives.

David has extensive experience in portfolio design and management, retirement planning, estate planning, income tax planning, and risk management. 

David earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration with the Highest Distinction, as well as a Master of Professional Accountancy degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is a CPA and holds the Certified Financial Planner™ certification. David is a member of numerous professional societies and has previously served on the Advisory Board for the University of Nebraska School of Accountancy.

David’s interests include spending time with his family (including three grandboys), camping, skiing, and watching college football,

Having graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Finance with a focus in financial planning in 2016. David has worked in financial advisory services where he has honed his expertise in investment strategies, risk management, and client relations.

Beyond his professional life, David enjoys spending quality time with friends and family. He also appreciates the great outdoors and can often be found exploring public lands.

Kelly M. Elsensohn, CFP©, CPA

Senior Wealth Advisor

Kelly serves as a Senior Wealth Advisor for Crusonia Wealth. Kelly started his career in 1998 in the accounting industry and then ventured into the financial services industry in 2006 as a personal wealth advisor in order to expand his service offerings and practice.

During his career, he has operated a tax practice focusing on high-net-worth individuals and closely-held businesses, and was a Senior Tax  Accountant and a Tax Manager for Deloitte & Touche, LLP in Denver prior to obtaining his CFP® certification. His experience in income tax planning and compliance, small business consulting, estate planning, and investment management allows him to deliver a comprehensive approach to his client’s financial needs. In addition to traditional financial planning services, Kelly offers tax planning and compliance services to his clients.

Kelly earned a B.S. Business degree in accounting from the University of Idaho, and a Master of Taxation degree from the University of Denver. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants. Kelly enjoys cooking with his wife Patti, and outdoor recreation in the Colorado mountains with his three sons.

Brian Frenkel

Brian serves as a Strategic Advisor to Crusonia Wealth Advisors, contributing to the company’s growth initiatives.

Since 2009, Brian has served as Vice President of AMN Investments, LTD, a family office founded in 1982. In this role, he establishes relationships with major financial institutions and directs the firm’s investments in syndicated equity and debt offerings. Brian is also a co-founder of a quantitative hedge fund, utilizing a systematic trading strategy based on his research. Additionally, he is a partner in a Denver-based real estate firm that owns and operates a portfolio of small-bay industrial assets. As an inventor, he holds several issued patents in the licensed gaming industry.

Brian earned his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Colorado. 

William (Peyton) Garnsey

Director, Data Analytics

Peyton is a Director and oversees Crusonia Wealth’s data strategy and performance reporting. He is charged with executing a roadmap for the critical processes, systems, and capabilities required for the accurate and timely delivery of client performance information.

Peyton also serves as Managing Director and Director of Data Strategy and Performance for Michaud Capital Management LLC (“MCM”).

Prior to joining Crusonia Wealth and MCM, Peyton worked for RockCreek Investments, where he built an end-to-end predictive data modeling system to assess risk and opportunity in the public markets quantitatively.

Before joining RockCreek, Peyton served as Director of FP&A for GolfTEC. He and his team were responsible for reporting on performance and financial metrics for the entire global portfolio of over 150 locations, identifying territorial growth opportunities that met strict investment criteria, building/managing multi-variate cash flow models, and applying scenario simulations to assess risk and opportunity for multiple large contracts.

Earlier in his career, Peyton owned and operated his own manufacturing business for 15 years. His passion for continued process improvement and system engineering turned a small local business into a regional player generating over $10M in annual revenue and $1.2M in annual EBITDA.

Peyton earned a Master of Science in Business Analytics from the University of Denver Daniels College of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Colorado.

Patrick Kanouff, J.D.

Chief Legal and Compliance Officer

Patrick is Crusonia Wealth’s Chief Legal and Compliance Officer. He manages the company’s legal affairs and oversees the development and implementation of its internal compliance programs.

Patrick also serves as President of Michaud Capital Management LLC (“MCM”).
Prior to joining Crusonia Wealth and MCM, Patrick served as the Chief Operating Officer of a large single-family office in Fort Collins, Colorado. Patrick coordinated the organization’s
developmental, strategic, and financial decisions. His responsibilities included investment
portfolio oversight, business operations and development, financial planning, estate oversight, real estate development, and risk mitigation.

Before joining the family office, Patrick served as the Managing Partner of Davis & Ceriani,
P.C., a law firm specializing in complex commercial litigation and real estate. His twenty-plus years of legal experience in securities, business formation and development, corporate finance, and real estate shaped Patrick’s ability to think critically, find effective solutions, and execute strategic plans.

Patrick completed his Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Creighton University

Madeline Kleinman, CFP®

Senior Wealth Advisor

Madeline serves as a Senior Wealth Advisor for Crusonia Wealth Advisors and is a Certified Financial Planner™ professional. Madeline specializes in investment strategies, retirement forecasting, and risk management, to help clients navigate their financial futures with confidence.

Madeline began her financial services career with Charles Schwab through their Financial Consulting Academy program. Over the course of six years with Schwab, she primarily served as a Financial Consultant. She then worked as a Financial Planner at Private Capital Management, providing comprehensive financial planning services to a diverse client base. Madeline has also worked as an Individual Giving and Foundation Manager at a nonprofit and as a Teach for America Corps member, dedicating three years to teaching high school science in New York City.

Madeline holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Integrative Physiology from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a Master’s in Adolescence Biology, Curriculum, and Teaching from Fordham University in New York.

A Colorado native with a passion for the outdoors. Madeline serves on the board of Running Rivers, a nonprofit dedicated to conservation and outdoor recreation. She also enjoys fly-fishing, skiing, and traveling. Madeline lives in Denver with her husband, Andrew, and their rescue dog, Drake.

Joe Michaud

Joe is Crusonia Wealth’s Chief Strategist and a Co-Founder. As a member of the Investment Committee, he provides valuable perspectives on economic and market conditions, strategic and tactical asset allocations, and investment strategies.

Joe is also the Founder and Managing Partner of Michaud Capital Management LLC (“MCM”) and is responsible for the MCM’s Investment Consulting Services.

Prior to founding MCM, Joe served as a senior investment consultant with two national investment consulting firms. With over twenty-five years of capital markets, private equity, real estate, and investment consulting experience, he has worked with family office, foundation, and endowment clients of all sizes, representing over $4B in client assets.

Prior to Joe’s years as an investment consultant, he served in a variety of roles at Fidelity Investments in Boston, including positions in corporate development, private equity and debt capital markets.

Joe received his Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and his Artium Baccalaureus from Bowdoin College.

Zach Pashel

Managing Director & Co-Founder

Zach serves as Managing Director and is a Co-Founder of Crusonia Wealth Advisors responsible for operations and implementation of its strategic plan.

Prior to Crusonia Wealth, Zach has been an active public and private markets investor through Rockcreek Investments LLC, his family’s investment company. Prior to this, he was CEO of Luminent Mortgage Capital, Inc. (LUM : NYSE) which he joined in 2008 to oversee Luminent’s reorganization. Additionally, he was Executive Vice President at The Chotin Group where he helped build a structured products asset management platform focused on asset and mortgage-backed securities which grew to more than $6 billion of assets.

Zach received his BA degree from Brandeis University.

Zach is or has been involved in numerous philanthropic activities, primarily through The Denver Hospice, Colorado I Have a Dream Foundation and National Jewish Health.
